Plasma Television

A plasma tv is a sort of high definition tv that supports a very high resolution. Plasma Tvs are almost always in the form of a flat screen, and almost always thin bodied as well. They are lightweight, inexpensive, and generally thought of as a very high-quality type of tv.

Plasma Tvs are able to project a picture because they are made up of two very large panels of glass. These panels have noble gases trapped in between them, which are turned into plasma when they receive an electric current.

This plasma emits an ultraviolet light, which then excites phosphors to cause light that is visible to our eyes. A lot of people confuse plasma Tvs with lcd Tvs, but the two are very different.

A lot of times, plasma display panels are only used on Tvs that exceed 80 cm in size. So, big screen Tvs are commonly made from plasma display panels, as opposed to small Tvs.

As far as general characteristics go, plasma Tvs are considered very bright (at 1,000 lux or even higher for the module), can be produced in sizes even as big as 150 inches, and have a very wide, brilliant color gamut. 42 inch plasma TV models are quite popular these days.

They also have a dark room black level that is low in luminance compared to the LCD screen. As far as power output goes, plasma Tvs usually burn more power when displaying a bright picture. Typically, however, a 50 inch plasma screen will consume about 400 watts. You can reduce the power consumed by the tv by setting it to the “home” setting, and by watching your programming in cinema mode.

Since plasma Tvs are made from glass, glare can be a problem. Some of them are coated with an anti-glare filter, however, which solves this problem for the most part.
